 Zellige

Zellige

Origin of Zellige

Finding its way into America’s heart in the past several years, this Moroccan handcrafted material offers everything from unique-ness, customization, and bold or soft colorways to make any room, pool, or feature in your home, stand out!

Design Attributes

Known for its significant imperfections, this material provides a highly authentic finish that will give the appearance of a masterpiece in whatever setting you choose. Designers love it because color brings happiness and life to an otherwise muted color palette throughout the rest of the home.

 Mother of Pearl

Mother of Pearl

Where does Mother of Pearl Come From?

Mother of Pearl is the guardian of the pearl. What makes it so spectacular is it comes from the inner lining of pearl shells and extreme details and hand work is required to slice this soft tissue out of the interior of a mollusk! That iridescent quality on the inner shell only exists if the shell has a pearl within.
It is hard to believe that to get 1 square foot, it takes 1 person in Verun’s factory in India 4 hours!

Mother of Pearl Color Range

The intricate work involved to get the tesserae all the same size is nothing short of extraordinary.
Mother of Pearl can come in 12 iridescent colors but the most common are yellow, silver, brown and black. White actually comes only from freshwater pearl shells.

Design Attributes

Mostly used in intimate spaces in one’s home such as bathrooms and dressing rooms, there is nothing quite as special as true Mother of Pearl which is such a delicate and fleeting material.

 Antique Reclaimed Encaustic

Antique Reclaimed Encaustic

History of Reclaimed Encaustic Tiles

This reclaimed material hailed from technological innovations from the South of France and Northern Spain in the mid 1800’s, its beauty and durability remains unmatched by present day product methods. Completely hand crafted by combining cement with deep material pigments and curing them under extreme pressure. They can range from deeply pigmented solid colors to high ornate design. Antique encaustic tiles are found in notable churches, public landmark buildings and in prominent homes throughout Europe now brought to America by our company. We keep an inventory of black, grey and white tiles which could be buffed and made look as antique marble. Or alternately, left in its rustic finish and simply sealed. Encaustic is also available in a variety of mixed designs and colors as a special order. This amazing, reclaimed material is affordable, unique, and timeless.
